18 Month Follow-Up

A year and a half ago, I began to build a site that was meant to be a side hobby in my passion for travel and my native island of Puerto Rico. I had a career in Psychology and after the birth of our son, I decided to stay home and care for him. As a mother, I needed some variety in my day, so I decided to do something online on my free time.

If you remember, I had no prior experience building sites, I was the definition of an "internet dummy". But I did have the passion you talk about.

I am infatuated with the island of Vieques, Puerto Rico so I built a site on the island. I am also an independent travel agent so wanted to share this island with my clients through the site.

Then, surprise! I began to profit from the site. All I was doing was taking a few hours per week in my spare time and sharing my passion. I'm building my business due to the demand of new travelers finding the site, as well as the local business community on the island.

Vieques, an offshore Puerto Rico island, is not very well known. But SBI! took me by the hand and helped me build viequestravelguide.com into the top most visited site for all of Puerto Rico, according to Alexa.com.

The sponsors on my site and the Vieques community are really appreciative of my efforts of spreading the word about the island. My websites are viequestravelguide.com, caborojopr.com and best-home-travel-agent.com. Yes, this "ex-newbie" has three SBI! sites now. Two have top Alexa rankings and the other one is on the way.

Ken, can I make a suggestion? You should mention this more to people. After you build one site, it becomes a piece of cake to continue to build more SUCCESSFUL sites. And it gets even easier because you keep adding more to the system. I have no idea how you can keep the price so low. The forums for SBiers alone is priceless, by far the most friendly and HELPFUL community online.

I already make as much money as I used to in my previous full time job. Google Adsense alone is enough to support my family. On top of that I provide advertising for businesses on the island and I am doing very well with selected affiliate programs.

And the possibilites for the future are great. So much business is coming in that I needed to hire an assistant. She started recently. So I now have more time to dedicate to the business and really allow it to reach its full potential.

But Ken, it is time, too, for me to give back. Your sense of mission is rubbing off on me. I have a bigger goal, which is to inject desire and hope to other individuals so they can have the same freedom to do the things they enjoy in life the most.

So I send you this updates, and will send more, like the people in your Case Studies site do. Life goes by too quickly to spend a third of your life working at a 9-5 job you do not enjoy.

I'm lucky. There are so many webhost companies who advertise that I almost signed up for. Or I could have fallen for another get rich quick scheme. But somehow, your site spoke to me, to my passion, knowlege and personal assets.

It's true what you said. If you have those, you can learn the rest, especially since SBI! eliminates the need to learn the hard technical or tedious parts.

"Thank you" is not enough.

Best Regards,
