In December 2002, SiteSell performed a survey of the Alexa* ranking of 150 random active customers sites. The sites were purchased between May and November 2002.

There are 16.6 million active sites on the Web**. Therefore, a site with a 1,000,000 Alexa ranking is in the top 6 percentile of all sites. A site with a 500,000 Alexa ranking is in the top 3 percentile of all sites. A site with a 300,000 Alexa ranking is in the top 2 percentile of all sites. i.e. just 2% of all other sites get more traffic.
